As SEO resellers, we are often thought of as vendors, ordinary selling machines that offer services and products. We can’t blame them, though. We carry it on our name—resellers, who resell services from a higher authority called providers. And sometimes, we get carried away with that title. The term itself gets in our mind as if we are only hired—or created—to be a seller, to be a vendor.

There is nothing wrong with being one, actually. Being an SEO reseller is like having the best of both worlds. Both worlds, as people are too busy confusing themselves with whether we should be classified as blue-collar or white-collar workers. And as they focus on classifying us ‘vendors’, we can spend time giving them both the worlds they need as our beloved consumers.

As white collar

I bet you have already seen well-prepared, knowledgeable SEO vendors who nail a project just by throwing words from their mouth. They are the white-collar SEO guys. They spend lots of time reading books, articles, and write-ups about their own niche’s and clients’ market. These textbook vendors often convince people with their slick lines and an erudite way of speaking, a manner that is very substantial in any marketing strategy. Well-versed vendors are those who know their jobs from head to foot, answer their client’s questions on details and close transactions after transactions without exerting too much effort and wasting time.

As blue collar

Learning things physically and manually is the best trait any vendor should have to dominate their profession. SEO vendors who allot time probing their own business’s and client’s industry, to the extent of visiting their client’s office and field of operations, are the blue-collar types. They may be not as detail-conscious as the white-collar types but they have this intimate knowledge of a certain niche, knowing it by heart, mainly through first-hand observation.

Merging both worlds

It was last year when I met my boss, my SEO provider, who showed me the real meaning of an effective salesmanship. Of course, like me, he started in the business as a neophyte in terms of Private Label SEO. I was new then to reselling business and had nowhere to go when I first had my assignment. And to my surprise, he taught me about the basic principles to achieve success in this business. He told me to research about my first client, and instructed me not to rely heavily on the Internet alone. According to him, I should research like a mad white-collar man, (like a tax auditor) and delve on details like a blue-collar census officer. He said that I should learn the niche by heart, physically knowing the business, so I can conduct a broad SEO research (which I will use in keyword research, article writing, and link building), not just to impress my clients but to deliver a hundred percent quality service.
