I know it will not make me a noble man to share some tools I can’t live without when it comes to blogging. These are pretty common compared to what other veteran bloggers use. Still, please allow me to share some of my favorite blogging tools.
Microsoft Paint or Adobe Photoshop – I can’t blog without these programs. Whenever I need to resize an image, or take a screenshot, I rely on these graphics programs. I use MS Paint for minor and basic editing and Adobe Photoshop for more technical photo editing.
Social Network Buttons — Aside from being a blogger, I am a full-time social network geek. I have accounts on Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, Hi5, Twitter, and MySpace. I love sharing my ideas and my thoughts with all my virtual friends. The very first day I learned about these cool buttons, I immediately installed them on my blog!
FeedBurner – Another service from Google I can’t live without! I won’t be able to keep track of my RSS subscribers without this tool.
YouTube — I’m a certified video geek. Apparently, 30% of my blog post contains videos from seminars and events I’ve attended. YouTube videos are great alternatives to regular still photos. Most of the time, it minimizes my writing needs because I can say things directly on video. This saves me from occasional writer’s block!
Microsoft Word — I’m not a fan of online writing tools. For me, MS Word is the perfect tool for writing, editing, and proofreading an article.
Google AdWords — I don’t outsource my blogs’ SEO and it’s my own duty to track the best keyword for them. This is the best option for me because it allows me to search keywords on a specific geographical level. This helps especially when I am writing for my Hispanic blog site.
Yahoo! Mail — This is my ultimate backup tool. My Yahoo! Mail plus account allows me to store my blog posts, comments copies, photos, and blog post drafts. It’s my online hard drive!
Google Analytics — This serves as my stat analyzer. I use this tool to check traffic stats, best keywords, hits and page views, etc. Through this, I am able to track the exact number of my site’s visitors on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly basis. I can also identify where these visitors are coming from and what exact keywords they used to land on my site.
Google, Yahoo!, and Bing — Of course, I can’t live without these three. Whenever I have to write about a fact or an event, or I have to find supporting facts for what I’ve written, these three leading search engines never let me down.
